Coverage built around your district — not the other way around.
Since 1996, the School Alliance Insurance Fund (SAIF) has given New Jersey boards of education a stable alternative to the traditional insurance market. SAIF is a joint insurance fund organized under New Jersey law and regulated by the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance. Today, 129 member districts across the state are part of SAIF.
Choose the coverage you need
SAIF members may select individual coverages. Your district decides which lines to place with the Fund.
Statewide reach
SAIF serves school districts throughout New Jersey through a single fund.
Governed by its members
SAIF's members elect a Board of Trustees, which is responsible for the Fund's operations. Day-to-day management is provided by Public Entity Group Administrative Services (PEGAS), an experienced joint insurance fund manager.
Board meetings are open to the public. Agendas, minutes, budgets and audited financial reports are posted on this site.
Your advisor stays at the center
Keeping your Risk Management Consultant in a central role as advisor to the member is one of SAIF's founding goals. The RMC is the bridge between SAIF and your district, coordinating risk management, loss analysis, claims and administrative matters.
Built to control costs
SAIF's goals are to provide predictability in insurance costs, reduce the Fund's administrative costs, reduce claims costs through risk management and loss control, and be responsive to members' insurance needs.
After Superstorm Sandy
SAIF received a $5 million prepayment from Lexington Insurance Co. toward member losses that were expected to reach $20 million statewide. That money helped districts like Cranbury get started on recovery.

Risk management & training
Every member receives risk management and loss control services aimed at reducing how often claims happen and how severe they are.
Your Risk Management Consultant (RMC) is the bridge between SAIF and your district. The RMC coordinates risk management activities, analyzes loss exposures, and handles claims and administrative matters for the member.
SAIF retains J.A. Montgomery Consulting, LLC for loss control and risk management services to the fund and its members. Seminars on specific risk management topics are offered to all members.
